Seated in a wooden handle, the 10-inch 1200 grit ceramic hone is a touch-up tool that will restore an edge on a knife 10-15 times before it needs to be brought back to the sharpening stone. This looks like an Idahone sharpening rod. I've been using these for twenty years and have never had a problem. Great product. Their V sharpeners are good too.

I have been using the 10" model for 2 years, and am very impressed by how sharp and how long I can maintain a knife edge with just one or two light strokes after a cutting session.

I purchased one of these after I upgraded from the Apex to The PRO. This is the best to do very light touchups to our kitchen and pocket knives. I just ordered on for the son.
