The 80 grit diamond Matrix stone is made for extreme metal removal. It is such a coarse sharpening stone that we do NOT recommend that you develop a burr with this stone. You should either stop just short of a burr, or remove metal at a slightly lower angle with the 80 grit than what your primary bevel will be sharpened at to preserve the cutting edge.
Unlike the other Matrix stones, it is recommended that you use the 60 grit silicon carbide powder for resurfacing this 80 grit sharpening stone.
***Ideal for the modern "super steels"
***Works great for sharpening ceramic knives
* While we do all we can to reduce voids in the stone we cannot guarantee all stones will be free of them. These voids will not interrupt the sharpening performance.

80 grit diamond matrix sharpening stone
Removes material fast but leaves deep grooves like the grit size isn’t consistent

Why did I wait to buy this one? Wow!
I've been a early adopter of the Matrix Diamond line of stones from Edge Pro. For some unknown reason I have been jumping from 250G to 650 to 1100G in my progression. Then progressing to polishing. Recently I added the 450 and this 80G stone. Clearly, I have been missing out on this 80 grit time saving material removal machine! Wow. Great stone when you need to reset a blade apex quickly on the Edge Pro. I love this stone. As with the other Matrix Diamond stones, it's a pleasure to use on virtually any steel. Just know that it's aggressive so a little goes a long way!

Diamond matrix stones
They are great stones, and recently got the 80 grit to complete my set and for those times I need to reprofile or fix damage. Before buying these stones I already had a full set of high quality diamond plate stones and the full set of orion veneev stones and didn't really need them. But had a chance to try them from a friend before buying and now I have a 6 stone set of these and been using them alot. Basically I like the stones so much that I spent 100's to get a set of them, that I didn't need, and it took money I could of used on another knife. They are that good.

Best for reprofiles and small chip removal
Definitely the quickest stone when your reprofiling or removing small chips. I would heed the advice and not even bother using to build your first burr. This removes a lot of steel and very fast. Perfect for those tasks.

Great stone
First I bought the set without the 80 Grit stone. A month later I ordered the 80 Grit stone and used it right away. Know I ask myself, why I didn't get it with the set. A great stone for the first step to set the angle. amazing how quick you reach goal! Good stone!!
