The stone leveling kit with 60 grit silicon carbide is a piece of glass that is a 1/4" thick and 12" in diameter with rubber molding installed around the circumference. This sharpening stone kit comes with a ½ pound bag of 60 grit silicon carbide. The silicon carbide stone polish is extremely coarse and efficient. This abrasive should only be used on the standard Edge Pro sharpening stones. (Not the MATRIX stones)
Use the stone leveling system to resurface your sharpening stones after heavy use. By sprinkling about a ½ teaspoon of the silicon carbide on the stone leveling kit, and adding a little water, you can grind the high spots of the stone down until it is level again. Use the opposite side as a perfect surface for mounting your Professional or Apex model. The rubber guard will help contain metal shavings and deaden the sound created from leveling stones. We also have a stone leveling kit with 240 grit aluminum oxide.

I'm Sure it Will Work
Beside the intended use of dressing the Edge Pro stones, I tried using this as a base for the newly purchased Apex. Well, being the beginner that I am with the new sharpener, I found it difficult to keep the unit from moving around when sharpening some of my knives. I'm sure it is completely operator error, but I went ahead and ordered the bench mount to correct the difficulty I was experiencing.

I used this kit for the first time and I am very happy with the results!I can give this tip: soak your 120 and 220 stones with water before leveling. This is to prevent them sucking up your grinding mixture.

This is very helpful to level and/or unload stones. Makes them like new. Is much better than using sandpaper or concrete.
